The Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria interconnects ISP's, HEI's, Content Providers, so as to enable them exchange local content data.
Position: Network/Communications Engineer
Duties and Responsibilities: I work alongside a Network/Communications Team to maintain both the physical and logical topology of the Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria (Physical, configurations, electrical, installations and maintenance.)

I work with an Exchange Point that deploys BGP protocol in peering with its connecting members. As such I have developed basic knowledge and application of the protocol in networks

I foresee that the knowledge I acquire at the workshop will prepare me to better handle issues that arise within my network, and also I would be able to recommend better policies that will enhance the performance of the overall network.

The financial aid will relieve me of being responsible for the whole cost of attending the training, which at the moment is burdensome. But with assistance it would not be much of a difficulty to bear the remaining cost.
Benefit to my Organization: It would enhance our overall performance and maintenance of our operations, thereby fostering greater trust between all stakeholders.
Country's benefit: The success of the Exchange Point of Nigeria will reduce per capital flight paid in foreign currency to transit providers of internet connectivity thereby saving huge capital revenue.
